National Capital Motors commenced business in Canberra in 1983 with the Nissan franchise.
Originally located in the iconic building at Mort St, Braddon, Nissan subsequently moved to Josephson Street Belconnen which also housed the Hyundai, Kia and Suzuki franchises. In 1992 a Mitsubishi franchise was granted to the company and was based at our Braddon dealership until April 2011.
The late nineties then saw the development of a $3 million facility at Scollay Street Tuggeranong which features Suzuki, highlighting the confidence that National Capital Motors has in the future of Canberra's motor industry.
In addition to this, the Company has also launched a separate entity, Canberra Fleet and Wholesale Centre, which caters for the buyer who desires late model and ex-corporate vehicles at affordable prices. Canberra Fleet and Wholesale Centre is located in the south at Botany Street Phillip and in the north at Josephson Street Belconnen.
In June 2009, we opened the doors to Goulburn Toyota, our first dealership in Goulburn at a temporary site, 104 Clinton Street. We are currently redeveloping a brand new dealership in Hume Street, which will become Goulburn Country Motors incorporating Toyota and Nissan franchises.
National Capital Motors are proud to announce that our newest dealership is now open on the corner of Josephson and Cohen Streets in Belconnen. Our Mitsubishi franchise, has ceased trading from our closed Braddon dealership and is now located at the new facility. Our Hyundai franchise has also moved from 11 Josephson Street and shares the facility along with Mitsubishi and Canberra Fleet & Wholesale Centre Belconnen.
We are very excited about this new ultra-modern development that has been environmentally designed and focuses heavily on customer comfort. The facility produces it's own electricity from an unseen photovoltaic solar system on the roof of the building. Rain water is captured in a 120,000 litre storage bank under the facility and is recycled throughout the operation. The dealership also features a unique Drive-in-under cover, Service reception for your convenience and comfort.
The opening of this new dealership realizes our determination to provide you, our valued customer, with the best automotive Sales, Service and Finance experience possible.
Campbell Brede, Managing Director and owner of National Capital Motors is joined by his two sons, Dale, Dealer Principal of National Capital Motors and Duncan, Dealer Principal of Goulburn Toyota, in the running of one of Canberra’s largest locally owned family businesses, now employing over 100 staff.
